so you really spray down your engine bay??? i figured this would be bad since you have electrical terminals and things that may rust???

also i think you would have more luck posting this in a technical forum rather than model specific?

This thread doesnt need to get moved

Anyways, spray some simple green and let it sit for like 10 seconds then wash it off with the water hose or power washer.

i've yet to wash my current civics bay. i did it all the time on my old ones though.

i've just maintained the bay since i bought it.....still looks like it rolled off the lot 2 years ago. simple whip down after every wash.

Go buy some simple green or purple power cleaner or any other engine bay cleaner.
Wet the engine compartment just a little bit so its wet.
Spray the cleaner everywhere, Get a huge paint brush and scrubb.
After u scrubbed everything go hose it over if pressure.

I did that to my 95 accord and it came out great except for the fact that i [freak]ed up the electrical system.. and my cooling fan kept on turning on all the time.

would using a steam cleaner instead or water work? avoiding all electrical wires of course.

Didn't see a clear answer in there. Never tried myself but do you wrap a plastic bag or something over the battery terminal or something else?

Thanks guys. The Service rep at the dealership said you really don't need to wrap anything. But I am not really sure.

You don't have to wrap anything. The detail guys never do, and we have yet to see a car comeback with any problems from pressure washing the engine bay.

As long as you don't unplug every electrical connection and spray your hose inside them, you will be fine. Honda's waterproofing of their electronics/connections has improved leaps and bounds since the 90's.
