Almost the same in the sence that they came off d16 blocks..... but thats about it
The y8 head has quench pads that the z6 head doesn't have. Quench pads = good.
The z6 head is rumored to flow more and have more room for porting. Airflow = good.
they each have their strengths., but id hardly go so far as to say they are almost the same.
I've owned both.... neither found its way onto a block.... vtec is for b-sereis. i'll put an a6 head on my z6 block and run a bisi or exospeed cam for my next n/a D-sereis build.

tru thanx, ive heard the Z6 cam is more aggressive and if you put a Z6 Cam in a Y8 its makes more power than just a Stock Z6, and Y8

Engines aren't just cylinder heads you know....
The y8 and z6 are very different motors. The y8 has a swirl inducing primary cam lobe set. By opening one of the intake ports a little more it causes the air to swirl down into the cylinder allowing fuel and air to mix even better and spread itself around more evenly inside the cylinder.
Like i said, they are very different motors. just cuz they are both 1.6L sohc vtec and produce roughly the same power stock for stock, doesnt mean they are the same engine.
