Default 9006 to 9005 headlight conversion.

I want to do the 9006 to 9005 conversion and I'm having trouble finding the plugs. I've only tried R&S Strauss and a few local part shops. Does Pep-Boys have them or do I have to go to Acura?

Has anyone ever had any problems with this? Is there any possibility of melting the housing/wires or anything due to more light, thus emitting more heat?

You do not need to change plugs.
Simply trim the bulb teeth and you're
set. Heres the site.

Think about it..
Does your highbeam housing melt?..no.
Its only 10 more watts of output.
Nothing will melt or be harmed.

It only can become an issue if you put the 80-100 watt bulbs in. I did the conversion, it's all good.

First off, anything over 65 watt is pretty
hot and you're going to risk cracking you
lenses. Second, 9006 bulbs are painted
black at the tip which makes them put
put less output (less surface area).
A 80 watt 9006 will probably equal a 65w 9005
overall as a result of the paint block off at the tip.

Sylvania Silverstars w/ the 9005 conversion are damn nice. I'm selling a pair for $30 shipped if you need some.

I didn't even do the conversion. I just took out the 9006 bulbs and disconnecting them from the harness, and then modified the 9005 bulbs to fit into the 9006 housing, pull the 9005 sockets+bulbs over and put them into the 9006 housing. one annoying thing is having to turn the high beam on. In other words, there are no 9006 bulbs in my teg,and I dont' have to worry about the voltage difference because the power supply is coming from the high beam wire harness.

there is not voltage difference. They are both 12volt.
its a matter of current.
10 watts is not significant enough to cause any problems.

Is your highbeams on all the time? You should not have any problems as long as your not putting the 100w bulbs in for your low beam the 9005 bulbs only consume 18% more power so its alright for the harness.

I also agree with what you said about the painted tips and the reduced heat/light ...heres a pic for everyone to confirm

No the low beam and highbeam are angled in a different manner. Do a test against the wall from the specs shown in the manual and if the beam pattern is higher, lower the projectors (lowering will cause BOTH the high and low beams to be angled lower)
