Default what is this for and why does it look like this

lifted up my hood to check out my temporary intake and i heard this buzzing noise...looked around the engine bay and spotted where it was coming from...looked like it was ready to pop

i tried looking it up in the shop manual, but since it's on my pda it's a lot to look through so i'm d/l it at the moment, but slow connection owns me...any help on the reason this happened? as far as i know this is the first occurance

are you talking about that green thing?? because, it looks like someone ripped out the AC, but left the components in the dash, and then sealed it with that green thing.

If you are talking about the black canister, then that is the charcoal canister for the emissions system.

those are the heater/ac lines from your engine bay to the inside of your car. looks like someone plugged them up with a condom. lol

actully looking at it under the hood, it's supposed to be the same size as the black one right below it, for some reason it's inflated...looking at the shop manual now and the bottom is for the heat and i guess the top is for the a/c...not sure...can someone post a pic of theirs?

Damn Blucivic, you have some of the strangest questions/problems in the forum....LOL....no offense meant....

THose are both AC lines, in and out. Your heater line is on the other side of the charcoal canister.

lol no offense taken...i've owned these cars since 2000 and a different car always brings different issues

so if the lines were removed from the engine bay, i wonder if turning on the a/c caused it to inflate...either way, as long as it isn't causing a problem then i'm fine

Id probably take it off and try to relieve the pressure in there... Im pretty sure there should be no pressure in there if you dont have AC hooked up.

i think it's funny that the lesser endowed gents are calling them condoms, when us normal girth guys call them "caps".
but hey, if that tiny little cap is what you can use as a condom, that's cool...i guess.

just remove the caps... you obviously don't have AC and the caps aren't really doing anything other than preventing crap from getting in the lines... if you are every going to reinstall AC, it's probably a good idea to flush those pipes anyways.

you can remove the canister just plug up all the lines except the one that goes into the firewall, its a vent for your tank. just let the hose hang down or put of of those little breather filters on it

They make those little "caps" or "plugs" for them...I remember, 1 is red and the other is black. I was going to buy them myself but now I cannot find them. It would help if I could remember the name of them...anyone remember???

She said the same thing to me too.. j/k

are you talking about the caps for the AC piping? If so, I'm sure a pipe cap will fit.
