EX Brake conversion
Picked up a set of 91 EX front 10.4" brakes. Getting ready to put these onto my 91 CRX SI. Just making sure that there is no issues when doing this. I noticed when looking for slotted/crossdrilled rotors they only listed them for the EX w/ABS. I do not have abs, is this going to affect anything or am I just over thinking.
Also I am wanting to upgrade the rotors and pads before I put this setup onto my car. What are some good brands that offer great stopping power and good lifetime.
One last thing, I searched on nopi and summitracing for rotors, pads ect..wheres some other good sites to look

1. You don't need to spend any money on slotted or cross drilled rotors. They do not help they will crack. I had them for track use there was no performance gained other than a lighter wallet. Get standard blanks, if you want good blanks then get Brembo blanks.
2. For the street get a mild performance pad from Carbotech or Hawk. Both are good and will help greatly.
3. ABS doesn't matter but since your not using slotted/cross drilled rotors it doesn't matter.
4. Check out the FAQ for your brake conversion.
5. I have many friends that run blanks only because the slotted/drilled do nothing but waste money. One of them lives at Buckeye Lake.

Yeah i wasnt sure about the cross drilled slotted rotors either, but I figure if im going to do them I might as well buy good parts. I didnt think there was an issue with the EX being ABS but jsut wanted to double check. Yes I have heard about Hawk pads, I actually think thats what im going to go with.
Here's my .02
If autox or road course use solid rotors and Carbotech. Hawk is known for being agressive on rotors especially the pads with higher friction ratings. Hawk makes good stuff, but I've had better luck with Carbotech.
If street strip, use what ever rotor you want and a decent set of pads from Autozone or equalvalent will be sufficient.
As for the ABS part, it doesn't really matter.
While cross drilled rotors tend to crack, this is usually under the more extreme conditions of track use, but I've rotors that were cracked and had never set tire on track.
My setup = ITR Caliper, DC Integra Rotor, 91 CRX knuckle.
I road course my car on a regular basis.
Again my .02. Dont spend it all in one place

did you buy actual EX knuckles? its not clear what you mean by "set of 91 EX front 10.4" brakes".
standard rotors will be fine. its more important to have a well maintained brake system. rebuilt calipers and fresh fluid.
pad choice is dependent on your driving really. if you just want to drive hard on the street, any common ceramic pad will do fine. i like my raybestos ceramics.
for the track, its a different story, but you wouldnt be asking such simple questions if you needed track pads...
