Default Instability whilst breaking / Higher Speed

Hello All,

My car seems to be unstable whilst breaking from a higher speed and also when driving at a higher speed. It feels worse if the road is slightly bumpier / uneven.

It's as if the wheel wants to actually move into another direction and I actually have to put effort in holding it in one position when breaking from a high speed. The car drives perfectly straight and doesn't pull until the road gets uneven.

any ideas peeps?

Posting your current alignment, and any suspension modifications (including brake modifications) might help.

Not uncommon with independently-suspended Hondas. I was always battling my track car in heavy braking zones because of the dynamic toe changes.

Post your current alignment specs. You may also want to actually tell us what car it is and what you've done with it, as TunerN00b hinted . . .

if the car pull hard to one side while braking you might have a seized brake caliper.

have your brakes checked....and also your tires/tire pressure. i guess wheel alignment too but it sounds like you might have a brake issue or just the roads in your area suck ***.

Have you checked your tie rods and/or your steering rack?

My 1990 CRX Si had all the same symptoms you describe. And when I brought it to the the shop, the diagnosis was...I needed a new steering rack and tie rods.

hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies. The car is an EG6, suspenion setup;

Tein Flex
Stock ARB's
New CE28N's

It never used to do this before, I did hit the curb once driver side. In terms of brakes; all calipers have been replaced bar the driverside front. Doesn't seem to be sticking either.

I'll have to post up my sheet but in the meantime i can remember some of my alignment specs;

Toe Front: 0.00 | 0.01
Toe Rear: 0.00| 0.00

Unfortunately thats all I can remember, the camber in the front was around 1.0 degree | 1.40 ish but ill have to check that.

The rears actually had a larger difference;

-1.3Deg | -2.01 Deg

The outer tie rods were replaced a year ago but I believe one of them has a slight pinch.

Tag - the thing is it never used to act like how its acting now. Even without breaking and driving at high speed,it feels a little "loose" even though there seems to be no play in the rack. .
