most of the time its only the solenoid(smaller round thing) that fails, you might be able to swap solenoids from the d series starter

I had some starter issues and there is really no short cut with swapping d series components to a b series shell. I've tried and failed. you can try it but i would not recommend doing it. My advice is to look at an auto zone and get a starter for a 95 integra gsr.

Also: Have you confirmed that you NEED a new starter? When i was going through this trouble, I had a bad connection at my grounds. Sounds simple however its definitely worth looking at it again.

Goodluck

All B series starters arent the same. There is a Mitsuba brand and Denso. The Denso is more popular with Acuras(b18's) and the Mitsuba is common with the B series Hondas(b16's). My y1 trans has a Mitsuba and I'd bet yours is the same. Ive personally tried using Denso starters in the place of a Mitsuba. It didnt work. The pinion hits the flywheel incorrectly and it never contacts the ring gear. BTW the denso starters(if thats what you have) are easily rebuildable, the Mitsubas arent rebuildable at all. hth
