problem with engine rpms
I have a 1990 honda CRX Si and I'm new to more modern cars and fuel injection. I had an el camino before. Anyway, the problem i'm having is that when i shift between gears, especially 1st and 2nd, the engine revs high when i am pushing the clutch down to shift gears, sometimes in the 2k rpm area. If i don't shift and i just put it in nuetral it will stay reving high for about ten seconds and then drop back down below 1k. What would be causing this?

My CRX was doing this after i swapped the engine, not as extreme though. After i would press the clutch, the RPM's would hold for a second before dropping down, and then they dropped down really, really fast.
I just did a tune up (plugs, wires, cap and rotor) and cleaned the IACV (2 bolts on the back of your intake, search youll find a how-to for cleaning it) and that fixed it.

I always had problems with my LS reving too high at idle. Since I had it tuned it completely fixed the problem. My issue was probably completely different from yours, but I always found a little Throttle Body cleaner would help it some. Probably wouldn't hurt you to clean that out anyways.
