Hey guys here is the problem.
While driving my car, the motor is detenating between 3-4 RPM's. I can avoid the detenation if I keep the throttle at a minimum. However when I push the pedal closer to the floor/ opening up the throttle if the engine is in this RPM range i hear nothing but detenation.
Too much timing? The head is milled .020 and other then that it is a stock motor besides cams, comptech intake, skunk manifold, dc header.
I just dont know what to do to stop the problem. I am running a chipped ECU and I don't know what the specific program it is but I was told that it was designed for a 1.8liter. I think it is a timing issue, but just not for sure and not sure what to put the timing at to find out.
So Let me know what i need to provide if I need to give any other info.
Thanks!

What octane fuel are you running? Too low of an octane rating will cause detonation if the engine is spec'd for 91/93. Is your base timing set to stock? The fact that you're unsure of the bin/ROM in the ECU is also worrisome. You could be running on one of those generic "Mugen/JUN/Spoon N1 Type R" programs designed to run on higher octane Japanese fuel with aggressive timing maps. If your setup is near stock, your best bet would be to run a stock B16 ECU, or have a stock B16 bin burned onto a an EEPROM and swap out your chip.

Well I am running 89 but just because of the price. I had been running 91 but that didn't change anything.
I know some people that can burn stock maps, I will have to get in touch with them and have them burn one for me.
I have the stock ECU but I am not going to use it because it throws a check light and then gas mileage goes to ****.
I will have to get the chipped burned with the b16 program.
Thanks for the thoughts!

Are your cams degreed properly? Milling the head retards the cams.

1. Check to make sure timing belt is all lined up properly with cam gears at TDC
2. Check distributor timing to make sure it is at a factory 16.5 deg btdc
