dead blinkers

So last night, I'm replacing my 194 bulbs in my side markers (which are wired into my turn signals to blink at the same time). Since I've had difficulty finding a decent amber bulb (side markers are clear and amber is required by DOT), I went with amber LEDs. Plugged passenger side in, tested, and everything worked fine. Plugged passenger side it, it blinked once, and then my blinkers shut off completely. Checked switch, still engaged. Clicked switch to right-hand turn, nothing blinks, not even the dash indicator. Turned car off and back on, no help. Replaced LEDs with original bulbs, no help. Checked other functions of switch, headlights work fine, highbeams work fine. Checked fuses, nothing specific to blinkers. Pulled all fuses related to lighting anyway, none fried. No idea now. Any thoughts before I take it to my electrical guy who charges $60/hr to diagnosis?

ok, problem found and resolved but a new question has surfaced. After checking all 20-something fuses under the dash, i checked from left to righ under the hood. Problem was the last fuse: 10Amp (red) Hazard fuse. swapped it, tested blinkers, everything is A-okay. replaced side marker with amber LED, fuse blew again. Used a different LED, so I know that isn't the problem. Any ideas what might be required to use LEDs? Would changing the 10Amp fuse to a 20Amp or 5Amp fuse help any?

I'm not an electric wizard, but try getting a resistor for the LED blinkers.
My theory for this is that because the LEDs require less energy to blink, they blink faster, and because you have standard bulbs in the turn signals, it's interfering somehow with them being linked together.
When you put LED turn bulbs in the turn signals themselves, they blink really fast unless you have a resistor. It's possible the different amperage damaged the fuse to begin with.
Someone correct my if I'm just way off, but personally, I'd go with the resistors. You can get them at the parts store.
Have you checked ebay for the regular amber bulbs?

These would be perfect for you, unless Oklahoma cops look for a DOT stamp on the bulbs themselves. They still blink amber so you should be okay.

Im not sure why your blowing a fuse other than that LED bulb is causing it. Do not use different amp fuses. You will melt wires or damage other components. They are there for a reason.
Whats wrong with normal bulbs?
