Civic steering postion.
I searched but could not find anything.
A long while ago I saw a product that was supposed to re-postion the steering wheel. If I remember right it moved it 2" closer and changed the angle slightly. I cannot remember who made or what it was called. Does anyone know what I am talking about? I know it was for civic's and integra's. I do not know any other info about it... sorry

When you buy an aftermarket wheel, you can get extensions...here's for Sparco, Momo, or OMP:

Momo and Sparco both make steering wheel hub extenders. They also have dished steering wheels that help some. Mine's extended out 3-4". I used to use two extenders plus the hub adaptor and quick-release but it was a kludge and I never felt good about it. Last time the car was at Sam Rothchild's shop, he machined a stainless steel column extension and welded it on. Turned out bitchen and appears to be much safer.
Spacing the column down is pretty simple. There are four bolts under the column that hold it in place. An extra 1/2 inch of spacers or washers between the column and the mount will move the wheel down more than an inch. If you need more, just replace the stock bolts with longer (grade-8) ones.
PS: I've got two Sparco extensions I can sell if anyone's interested...

It was just like a hub extension as far as design goes. But, there was a pivot point in the middle of the extension. I'm not sure if I want the whole column to go down. I would like to sit a little farther back but have the wheel close (not too close) to me. Looks to me like with a normal exension the wheel would be higher due to angle of the column. It's hard to explain I guess, But I want the wheel closer and more vertical.... Like | intead of / . Does that make sense?

You'll never notice the lowered column. Only the wheel. Where talking maybe a 1/2" lower where the column bolts to the brace. Trust me, you'll never notice. It's the height of the wheel you care about.
All it takes is a 12mm socket and some washers to give it a try. It'll make sense once you do it.

I'm thinking I did a poor job describing what I'm talking about:
Using washers/spacers where the steering column bolts to the dash support does exactly what the factory tilt-column does (which is exactly what you want). If you extent the wheel out at the current angle, it will be higher than before. If you've also lowered your seat – as many racers do – the wheel will seem higher still. Lowering the column just drops the lower point of the column tilt to get it where you want. Even if you don't have a tilt column, it works the same way.

+1 on thawley's info
im currantly using 3 spacers, quick release and dished wheel (i'm tall and sit way back) and have been thinking about doing the washer trick to drop the colum. definately this weekends project.

Ok I will give the washers a go. Thanks for your input. Im still curious as to who made the extension I saw that would tilt. It's probably a lot more $ then some washers though
