hey i got a 90 crx hf with b18 block and b16 head lsvtec.. sometimes it doesnt start then wait a couple min then it will fire up then sometimes im waiting forever dont know what would cause this i was gonna get the starter tested but seems fine since it is working half the time ya know or u think it could be going out?? could it be a short in wiring?? a relay??? i dont know what to check

 

Check the main relay, the solders on them tend to go bad over time. Just resolder them and you will probably be good. Does it tend to not start when it gets hot or just random times?

 

just at random times usually its a 5 in the morning and im trying not to be late for work but when u it just does it whenever i was sitting in it today it fired right up then i turned it off tried to start it nothing kept tryin bout 5th time fired right up again never know when its gonna start or not... and wheres the relay should i be checking/replacing??

 

Yup sounds like a main relay issue to me but ya never know. Do a search on here and i'm sure you will come up with alot of stuff on the main relay, or go over to crxcommunity.com i found alot of stuff on there about it.

But it's basically up under the dash to the left of the fuse panel, down by the hood latch. It's kind of hidden up under there. Check and listen to see if when you turn the key you hear 3 clicks from it, and if you can hear your fuel pump prime.

Mine was giving me problems not kicking the fuel pump on all the time, i resoldered it today actually and now it's kicking on all the time.

 

Yeah i can hear the fuel pump and i was wondering wtf the click in my dash is it comes from above the hood latch area i can hear it clickin in there and no start i dont know about three clicks though

could be a main relay, i had a problem where i would start sometimes and sometimes not and it was the starter relay. Probably not with yours though. Would check in to getting a new main relay quickly.

 

well would the main relay affect anything else or just the starting??
