MAF = mass air flow

MAP = manifold absolute pressure

it should fit if your stock air intake isnt the straight up intake with the filter ontop of it....
BUT either way i do recomend that you buy a good air filter for it and trash that crap that comes with them!!!
i sugest AEM Dryflow filter.

wouldn't K&N be cheaper to get initially? plus you can get those cleaning kits for $10 instead of buying new filters..

do what i did. buy this exact kit and then go somewhere and buy a k and n filter. the piping is alllllll the same. whoopdie doo the aem has a little plate with the brand name on it. The fitment is good as well. theres going to be an air flow sensor that has to go into the intake pipe... the hole for the sensor is to big so take a small piece of the blue hose that comes with the intake and put it around the sensor and it should fit right into the hole in the intake pipe and fit snug. ill put pics up later if i can find my camera charger.

100% correct.

A pipe is a pipe is a pipe.

Buy some cheap **** pipe on ebay here, that one will work fine, but the filter will blow, then go to autozone or something and pick up a K&N filter, that's exactly what I did ('cept I bought the pipe from an H-T member). As far as your MAP/MAF goes - you don't need to worry about that because the MAP sensor on a civic is on the throttle body, though on '96-'00 civics there's an IAT (intake air temp) sensor that goes into the pipe, I'm not sure if that has a hole for it or not, but if it doesn't, it's easy enough.

All the sensor hole is is a hole in the pipe, so just drill a hole in it, then widen it a bit until you can fit the rubber grommet in there. Once the grommet is in there the sensor just slides right in.

It wont filter good.
I had to drill an extra hole for the sensor for my 00 EX. Just make sure you put a grommet in there.

By the time you add up the cost of the cheap intake, shipping, and the K&N filter, you are almost up to the price of a nicer intake. Plus the more expensive intakes have a much nicer finish.

here's what i would do. go to a pick apart junk yard and try to find a 94-01 teg intake box and piping. take out your old intake box with the bottom resonator and piping. put in the teg intake box and piping in your car. buy a k&n drop in filter for said teg intake box. run dryer air ducting from home depot from the bottom of intake box to anywhere where it can get cold outside air. if you have a SI front end the vent on the passenger side well work better, but anywhere were it can get cold air well work. this is cheap and old school.

Not all piping is the same.

Stock piping is more restrictive than after market. Ebay knockoff still wont be as good as the real thing ie. AEM's v2 intake, If im not mistaken it is dual chambered.

yeah, a lot of people say that stock piping is more restrictive, but i don't think so. especially for a b series. i can think of three companies that don't think that the stock piping isn't too restrictive, comptech, mugen, and spoon. true they have full cold air systems, but they are way to expensive. but anyways, if the stock piping wasn't good then those companies would have changed those out when they made intake systems for the b series, right? so why pray tell didn't they? the comptech and the mugen only changed out the box and filter element. the spoon, is a straight drop in(except for the whole system) so, if the stock piping is so restrictive why would these big name companies just do a intake box swap or just a filter element swap?

Same with K&N they make a drop in and a full intake, same with spoon etc.. They just make the drop in for the people that don't want to spend as much.

edit-

also spoon makes a direct air flow pipe for a more direct air flow.

yea, so it makes you think, it's not that restrictive. especially if it's coming from spoon and mugen.

so the op would actually just be fine taking out his resonator out the bottom of the intake box and just putting in a k&n filter. another note to add, it is stock.

I still think its slightly more restrictive, but its ultimately upon how much he wants to spend on an intake.
