I i have a garret 5 bolt flange housing and down pipe and i was told i dont need a gasket but i still think i do but the fact that i cannot find a part number for it is making me think not. So do i need one one and if so what is the part number? If i dont will it leak?

I use this one:

If your flanges are flat, then most people don't run a gasket, and usually the connection gets sealed by carbon from exhaust gases. My downpipe on my old setup leaked, so I got this gasket and it never leaked again. I've since been through several setups/downpipes, and I've reused the gasket each time. It's just some cheap insurance to me.

ATP also makes a similar gasket:

as long as your surfaces are true you wont need a gasket, to me its just something else that can blow out and cause more problems
