Default Mini me vtec problems

I've got a EF sedan, B7 bottom end, Z6 head. I did take the oil resitrictor put of the block. i have oil pressure in the motor. 10 psi at idle, 50 psi @ 3000 rpm. Just like it is supposed to be.

Here is the problem.... Car runs fine, no vtec, and throws a code 22 all the time. I have what i thought was lifter tick, but turns out the noise was the "piston" in the vtec solenoid.

I have oil pressure going into the bottom passage of the solenoid(all the way to the left), but it doesn't make it up to the third one(next to last on the right) where the pressure switch is.

to make sure the guy i bought motor part from didnt take it papart and put it together wrong, does the spring go on the bottom if the inside of the noid or does it go facing the top of it all?

Any one else have any ideas? any help would be greatly apreciated!!

vtec will not engage if any codes are being thrown.

that might be it?

I'm aware of that. i'm trying to figure out what the cause might be as to why the noid is ticking like bad lifter tick. motor has oil pressure but its only getting to that one passage way in the noid. nothing is blocked in the head.

im not exactly sure but it sounds like your solenoid is bad, just get another one there cheap and easy to find like 15-20 bucks on ebay, you can use one from any d or b series that have em

You can use any old solenoid, you have to get one for a z6. I thought that too and got one off a z6 from the junkyard to put on my Y8 and it was a no go. Different bolt pattern and the Y8 uses longer bolts, so if a z6 solenoid didn't work I'm sure a B series solenoid wont either.
