Default Suuuuurge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

alright , I got this idle surging issue . It started after I completed my euro-r install .(props to rosko racing btw for a kick *** product ) . I got all the vacuum situated thanks to all u honda techers . I already did the fitv screw tighten thing which did work on my stock manifold but doesent on this one . I discovered that if I plug the top port within the throttle body my idle returns to normal , the same will happen with the lower port but idle sits a little higher . Im thinking of plugging the top port with some quick steal , does this seem like a bad idea ? Any other options before going that rought ? I know that if that plug comes loose my head is toast . I dont have my p28 yet or I would just omit iacv all together . Searched

sounds like an issue with the IACV. I'm not completely certain as i havent messed with it in a while, but i believe the top port is for the IACV.

do not plug that port!!

Leak maybe ? the seal on the Iacv its self seems fine , however the conversion plate only has a thin layer of honda bond in between it and the manifold . I just bought a sheet of rubber cork gasket maker maybe ill give that a try.

yeah, top port is IACV, bottom is FITV.

do you have another IACV you can try?

make a little block-off plate for the FITV if you don't need it and loop the lines, just make sure you use something sturdy. i cut mine out of a sheet of tin i had, probably twice as thick as a soda can.

Thats what I ment by the Fitv screw in mod thingamajig http://www.92lude.com/idle_air...d.htm it fixed my coolant bypass idle surging on my stock intake manifold . But ive got new surge issues with this one. I even did the sheetmetal blockoff . I just installed that gasket on the iacv adapter to no avail.
Tomorrow I will add more quick steal around the tb maybe I missed a spot as unlikely as it is .

have you tried spraying some carb cleaner around the IACV to check for leaks?

yup , and I also added that gasket . I keep tripping a code 12 now . I dont know the relevance to the surging being that 12 is an egr problem . I cleaned it and all , maybe the vac line that connects opposite to the egr valve is not on a strong enough nipple ( sucking/pulling) , anyway back to the idle . It seems to me that the direct change in engine idle from fluctuation to perfect as a result from simply pluging the top port makes a direct implication of some sort of an Iacv problem although it was fine before the im swap . Maybe a part jealousy issue? idk

it is NOT the FITV, if it was, plugging the bottom hole would fix the problem. that is not the case, plugging the top hole is what fixes the problem, so it is IACV related.

Read before you post, it's been discussed three times already, and we're still on the first page.

you shouldnt not have to adjust anything. If its not idling properly, there are other reasons besides adjusting something to bandaid it.

you do not want to remove the iacv. its a pain in the *** to get it to idle correctly (through tuning) without it.

actually he said it did the same thing as when he pluged the top so u read before u post, and watch where u swing that hammer, where do u think the coolant lines come from to the iacv the fitv, 9 times out of ten its corroded inside and every one wants to say its the iacv, its usually not. so to the op pull it off and check it

the top hole IS THE IACV
NOT THE FITV

know your FACTS before YOU post

i have been chatting with 8_6luder for well over a week with this and a couple other issues, so it is just a little bunk to accuse me of not reading. And if YOU have been working with him on the issue as long as i have, you would know that he doesn't have coolant lines going to the FITV. he has already done the modification to the FITV to stop it from allowing air to pass.

H22 tb gasket on Euro-R

Here you can see the two places on the bottom that will leak air but it sounds like you may have that covered.

Also keep in mind that the manifold bore is 68mm while you are still on a stock tb and stock gasket. This means that the iacv wall is thin and that the stock gasket and throttle body might not be covering this area as well as you'd like it to since designed for a smaller bore. IIRC Blake had the same problem and cured it by using silicone on both sides of the gasket to insure that those areas were sealed.
