Default to swap or not to swap

trying to decide on either replacing internals in my d16 or swapping for possibly a b series.
I've been looking into it and a swap doesn't sound too difficult, though stop me now if I'm horribly wrong.

for the money you gonna put in the d series you might as well get a swap. ro you can always boost the d16

either way... you will be having fun... you can boost your D or swap for a GSR and still boost that... either way... you will enjoy your car

Replacing the internals of the D will bring you about up to the cost of swapping in a B. My B16A feels much more substantial all around than my D16, even at low rpm.

if your on a mild/low budget look for a ls or b20 swap. imo the best b series swap for the money.

gsr head raises more compression on a b20 block, just somethin to think about.

it really depends on what YOU wanna do, if you keep the d series then swap internals and boost it, if you dont wanna go boost then go to b series IMO

i think itd be fun to see how much whp i could get outa a d16 n/a though. ive never driven a boosted car so i dont have much say weather i like it or not. i think i wanna stick with n/a. and from the sound of it a swap would be a good way to actually get some wrench turning in. i know enough to get me through a swap i just need to figure out which kinda ecu i need. i think i want to do the b20.

anyone with a b20? pros cons?

IIRC a B18B (5 speed) ECU will run a B20 just fine. Completing your first engine swap is very satisfying, I recommend you go for it! My first swap gave me the Honda bug, it's acctually a great disease!

hmotorsonline has a great reputation. You're oding yourself a favor if you swap because a b series has more potential, even stock than a semi stock D series.

Well I had to figure out the same thing for myself heres some things to think about
1. -B series VTEC motors require premuim gas (expenisve) the d16 takes reg (save a few bucks)
2. -Parts for B-series are usually more expensive
3. -A single cam is just so easy to work on and parts are cheap and easy to get anywere
I decided to rebuild my d-series but either way shouldnt be too bad

^^^let's say he has his stock d series now and buys a turbo kit, where everything is reletively easy to follow through with and get a decent tune. WOuld probably be a fun set-up.

BUT he could get a B series of some sort....save...and if he decided to turbo it, he'd be greating so much higher numbers. More potential.
