92 sedan - rear door handles stick open
Does anyone know offhand why the rear outer door handles would stick halfway open? Every time you go to open the doors the handles feel a bit stiff and then they stick until you push the handle back in place.
I'm not sure if there's going to be something I just have to lube up or if this might be some common problem with a particular part. I wonder the latter since both rear door handles are doing the same thing.
This is for a friend, so I don't have the car here. I'd just like to see if I can skip some of the work in figuring out what the problem might be and go straight to it the next time I have the car around since I have limited time near the car.

you have to take the handle assy out of the door there is a metal pivot with a metal arm attached to it they start to seize up. Just use a good lube that is plastic safe spray the pivot work it back and forth using more lube to flush away the dirt/rust until it moves freely. Be careful taking the actuator rods of the handle they are held on buy little plastic clips that are easy to brake
you should just be able to remove the interior door panel, cut a small hole in the plastic on the inside of the door and spray the pivot assembly on the back of the door handle. Even if you had to/wanted to remove the handle its not that hard, i just changed my passengers side front one last night when i replaced my passengers side doors. two 10mm bolts hold the handle itself on and then there are the 2 rods that connect to the handle.
