SRS LIGHT WILL NOT GO AWAY!
oops... My Bad..
It's a 2000 Honda Accord Coupe V6 Ex Model. I have been told that SRS has something to do with the front passenger seat seat belt and that there was actually a recall on this problem. Is that true?

the confucius picture is pretty funny!
The SRS light on my car is intermittent. Sometimes it is on, sometimes it is off. I read a post elsewhere that it means that the airbags will not deploy if the light is on and you are involved in an accident. I am not sure if it is true. I guess I have a 50/50 chance of mine working if I need them.

YEah it wont turn off and the same thing is happening to my car (97 accord) and if u got bye another computer for the SRS make sure its not from a crashed accord the SRS light will stay on
SRS light on means there is a DTC. The DTC will tell you what part of the system to troubleshoot. Seatbelt buckles and belt retractors are covered under a lifetime warranty ( assuming no human or animal damage ... including car accidents ). There are no recalls that I am aware of for your car regarding seat belt or buckles.
The dealer should be your only choice when diagnosing SRS DTC's. And, if you fix the car you still need to clear the DTC. It will not go away on it's own.
Last poster, you are correct. If you crash the car and an airbag or seatbelt/buckle deploy, the SRS unit needs replacment.
I don't believe that the SRS light being on will always keep the airbags from working. They just may not perform as designed depending on the problem in the system. Meaning they may or may not deploy.

in the same boat regarding the srs light. In my case i do have access to the honda srs scanner and its no help at all just tells me to check all connectors. you can try reseting it by using a jumper wire. When i get home i will post procedure on clearing that light.

There are ways to actually test all the parts in the SRS system. The DTC will tell you what part of the system to diagnose. Clearing the light wont make the vehicle safe. I suggest fixing the car.

So Honda told you it was your seat belt buckle? Or you heard that those were common issues with your car? If it's what Honda told you, then you should probably try replacing it and see if your light goes off

Hey there, I had (and now have again) the same problem with the SRS light.
My '02 v6 cpe had the "occupant position sensor" (i think that is what it is called) replaced at less than a year old. It is located inside the seat itself and tells the system if your can is in the seat.
Dealership took care of it under warranty, they had to take it to an upholstery shop that could sew the seat back together.
Took a couple days total.
I got a packet from HondaUSA that said they would pay for the repair. The first time it was covered under warranty so the packet didnt matter. Now, I wonder if that packet will still apply. It has been a long time since I got that in the mail. I am lazy though, this SRS light has been on for over a year.
It is still possible that it is just the seat belt sensor though. Run the occupant position sensor thing past your dealership's service people, and ask them about Honda fixing it for free. I really need to find that thing that Honda sent me.....

Ok, I found the paperwork I was sent. I got, in spring 2006, a warranty extension for the main components of the Occupant Position Detection System.
Just a letter saying it extends the warranty to 10 years or 150k miles.
My memory wasn't too bad I guess.

Hopefully, if you have a family, you take their safety more seriously than your own.

i second that!! I have a 95 accord lx and my SRS light is on also, i tryed to look up on how to reset it and i found something about jumping the connector thats near the fuse box and i did that but the SRS light will not go off then i did more research and found out basically the same things everyone else did, your SRS light should never come on and if it does that means there is a problem with the system. and there is no way to turn off the light except fixing the problem if you jump it the light stays on if you take out the fuse then the car will go ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, like it does when your keys are in the ignition with the door open even when you are driving down the road, i dont know about the 6th gen but i know the 5th gen accords should have their SRS system checked out after 10yrs and also i heard it is illegal for anyone except for a trained professional to work on the SRS or any safety restraint system in a car. because it is designed to save your life so please everyone fix the problem like i will do
christmas tree, exactly what mine looked like...blue brights, red srs, and green drive. Then when you turn on your blinker or hazards, the fun of the tree really comes out lol...
