90 accord clutch questions
My 1990 accord's clutch recently began losing pressure (tension) then would be fine but the other day I tried to drive somewhere and it will not go into gear when it is cranked (but will when not crunk) and the clutch has zero resistance. Ive never worked on a clutch before, the garage said $600 for a new one but I want to do everything possible myself to get down to the problem. The car has over 250,000 miles so $600 is out of the question, but if I can do what I can, with your help, I'll be happy knowing I tried. I read on one forum thread that I may need to bleed the line but I cant find the slave cylinder, found the master though. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I would call another shop. Sounds like the master/slave to me. Is the master low on fluid? If it is then I think there is a tsb to replace the slave and master. Should not cost anywhere near $600 to repair
thanks for replying, the master has fluid, beside the brake fluid reservoir, right? If not, how do I check master's fluid? I finally found the slave and it looks pretty old, not visibly damaged or anything but much older looking than the master.
you have to check it at the inside........under the dash........right at the end of the pedal
If theres fluid around the area its bad!
same thing happen to me!

I checked around the end of clutch from inside and there is fluid build up around the master cylinder. Would I be safe in just buying a new master and slave together and simply replace them. I guess I would have to flush the system? Thanks for the help.
Could someone tell me how to replace the master/slave cylinders in a 90 honda accord, I found plenty of info on other things but not much on this. I have a Haynes manual and I can see the different pieces but it doesnt tell me exactly how to do the replacement, is it simply disconnecting hoses and "plugging" the new ones in? are there any steps that I may overlook having this be the 1st time to do this? Also, I found a set of master/slave cylinders on ebay for 1/2 the cost of any other autoparts sites, too good to be true? Thanks

what do u mean by no resistance in the pedal? does it stay up? (comes back up after u step on it?) press ur clutch pedal n have someone watch if ur slave cylinder pushing the fork at all. if its pushing the fork and u have no clutch ingagement could b ur clutch, if the fork wont move it could be ur slave cylinder
