Default Prelude coilover options

I'm trying to find the right set of coilovers for my car (2001 Prelude Base). Options that I've considered are:

Ground Control w/ Koni Yellows - I've heard nothing but praises for this combo from ht.

Tein Super Streets - I've also heard good things about these.

Function & Form Type II - Haven't found too many reviews on this, but looks like a quality product.

So, if you guys could tell me what you think of these options + suggest other options that you've had experience with. Also, if you've bought these products, please let me know where you bought them from. Thanks for your help, I'm trying to make an educated purchase and not get ripped off.

out of those 3 choices i would go for the GC/Koni set up.
i have Zeals and i love them.... otherwise KW v3s are a good choice or if you want to spend the money Montons or Ohlins.

So basically for anything under $2000, you'd say gc/konis are the best?

Also, I know that GC's aren't true coilovers but sleeve type coilovers. Is there a disadvantage to this? Any problems regarding this?

And lastly, where would you recommend buying GC/Koni Yellow combo from? and yes, I mean from the internet. Thanks for the help.

And please feel free to suggest anything that's better, but I'm willing to only spend about a $1000 or just over 1k.

EDIT: BlacktraxGirl, what price range are zeals?

What I should have done in the original post is ask this question: what are the best coilovers around or less than $1000 for a BB6 5th gen?

Sorry for the double post.

Cool, I assume those spring rates are for a 4th gen (going by your avatar). I know the 5th gen's a bit heavier, so .... i dunno. you remember who exactly you bought them from?

Ahhhhh, trial user status does not let me PM anyone. I could have PM'd you about this stuff if I could.

I have the koni/GC setup with 380 rates in the rear and 440 in the front with no problems at all. I even use it in the winter. It's a 97SH.

I just bought mine from GC themselves http://www.ground-control-store.com/index.php

GCs are adjustable sleeve springs....so youre right in saying they are not a real coilover. the benefit of having GCs is that the springs are fully customizeable at any given point, without too much of a wait. Konis are a great shock with good dampning adjustablilty. Price of the combo is best bang for the buck on so many levels.

Zeals are just a tad over 2k depending on which one you get.

for your price range i suggest the GC/Koni setup. you wont regret it! and as for ordering from the internet...i suggest ordering from GCs site unless you want to do it with one of their dealers, When I place orders i always have custom spring rates so ordering from a website doesnt allow you that. You can choose what spring rate you want when you place the order with GC. Konis without revalving can only hold about 500lb springs so you wont want to get spring rates higher than that.

I initially went with KYB AGX/Eibach PK, but the ProKit lowered each corner differently (1.1-1.7") and then one spring gave out and dropped rear wheel 2.5" after about 30k miles. I switched to GC and have been happy ever since.

I went with KYB AGX because I read they were about as good as Koni's for a lower price. Seems to be accurate.

kyb can hold about 400 before they blow. my setup helps a lot with over steer which helps me in autox. i got them threw th motorsports.

^^ yes...

make sure when you purchase the GCs you specify its for Koni shocks.... they have different sleeves for just Konis and if you dont mention it it wont fit.

why not buy the shocks from GC also? they are a Koni dist.

Also mention the spring rate you want...otherwise youll get their standard spring rate for the prelude.

What about the ones that are on Ebay? What spring rates are these and would the standard spring rates be good just lowered (2" or more) for daily driving? (Not looking to race or track the car)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

*Can you guys post pics of your ride lowered on these (the lower the better )

Not answering your question really but those run $339 direct from GC. So, I don't know why anyone would buy from ebay. Just saying.

Double check the OTS rates....IIRC they are a weird 380F/275R setup....I run a 380F/400R setup on OTS Konis.
New springs are like $50/ea

I have Koni yellow with GC's. I got the koni's from tirerack.com and got the GC's directly from their website. I run 450f and 550r. I got the koni's revalved even though they didn't need it. The ride is way comfortable given the higher spring rates though

If you are looking for more performance in terms of handling- springs are where it's at. Get stiffer springs than stock. Don't forget a rear sway bar!

Since when did KW have a coilover setup for the BB6? I checked their site and all I saw were applications for Accord, Civic, CRX, Fit and S2000.

Just thought I'd chime in here;

I just installed the GC/Koni setup and its pretty damn awesome. I ordered them from http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com for about $380, and got custom rates of 400f & 450r.

I know they recommend getting softer springs out in the rear for safety, but to be honest the difference isn't too bad, and actually helps with rotating the car on the track (which is the whole reason I got this setup). I also have the ST rear sway bar, again for stiffening up the rear to prevent understeer.

got about 1 finger gap all around, and the car looks/feels/handles amazingly....just installed my new enkei's last weekend too and was gonna post some pics in the rpf1 thread, but its archived
