Need some input good/bad/stupid idea :)
Heres a general idea of what im looking at.... First off this is on a VW so my endless seaching on hondatech will only turn up so much info lol. Anyway Im planning out the next steps of my car and space is a major factor. For those who are familiar with it the setup is a VR6T into an 83 rabbit. The problem is the lack of any type of legit top mount manifolds and i neither have the skill to make my own or the budget to pay someone for a one off.
So heres my idea. The best cast manifold option is going to put the turbo to low on the back of the motor would it be an good/bad/stupid idea to do maybe a 6 or so inch extension off the flange of the manifold to bring the turbo up a little bit? If acceptable any suggestions?

You would probably end up with more room and alot better looking setup if you just built off of the stock manifolds. I've seen it done many times and it would save you some cash too
I found a company up in canada that makes a top mount extension off the factory manifolds but no good pictures of it so im not sure how high it will move the turbo up. Anyone other then burns make a 2-1 collector with a t4 flange?

im with this guy. friend of mine has a jig for bottom mount using the stock manifolds. works out well.

I am slowly building a friends Rabbit VR-T and we have no clearance issues running an ATP manifold and PT61S turbo. Im interested to see why the turbo would sit too low. Also, if you do want a top mount turbo set up. I can build you one using your stock exhaust manifolds. PM me for pricing.

If you wouldnt mind shoot me a PM with how much to do a top mount. I have done a couple vr6 turbos in the past just looking to do it a little different this time around.
heres a pic of the ATP 60-1 setup from my mk2 just seems like it takes up so much space
Heres a pic of my old shimmel setup i should have redrilled the flange and made with into a top mount lol
and some bay pics just cause i like pics
