HELP a honda newbie
First honda, 92 accord with 240k miles runs great but had slight leak around valve cover gasket when i bought it. I am not a great mechanic but I thought I knew enough to tackle this. Bought the felpro kit from Advance because it had everything with it. Did not notice much if any gasket sealant on the old one, I used enough high temp sealant but not to much. The result was FUBAR!!!!! It is like the gasket is a half an inch to big and no matter how many times I have readjusted it it still has a huge leak NOW. I am sure there enough good mechanics on here who done this 100 times that are laughing there A@@$$# off. Really need to know how much if any sealant is required and is the gasket supposed to be that loose a fit. Yea I did throw the old one away. Thanks
just go to advanced and buy a valve cover gasket and jus take the bolts out and scratch off the gasket with a blade. make it clean and put the new one on. Put the valve cover back on and tightin the bolts snug fit, not to tight and not to loose.
on additional note: I'd buy honda genuine gaskets. I had bad experience with felpro - its dry compared to the factory ones. I never had a single leak ever since I used honda gaskets and honda bond (its magic in a tube)
