Default 2" or 2.25" piping?

here is my situation. i have 2" exhaust piping cat back to a hks hiper muffler. got a fix it ticket for my exhaust (27153(b)R). i think that is a exhaust color violation tho. i have a d16y7 so would upgrading to 2.25" cat back with a resonator and a es oval muffler quiet it down? would i lose or gain performance going with the 2.25" piping over keeping my 2" piping? keep in mind, this is a stock d16y7 engine.

I also think staying with 2" piping is best for your application.

yea thats gay. heres what it says on the dmv site "27153. No motor vehicle shall be operated in a manner resulting in the escape of excessive smoke, flame, gas, oil, or fuel residue.

The provisions of this section apply to motor vehicles of the United States or its agencies, to the extent authorized by federal law. "

funny, i found no 27153(b)R

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/tocd12c5a2.htm

even if it was for the color of my exhaust gases or the above quote, how would the cop see it if he pulled me over with dark sunglasses on (motorcycle cop)? he never once took off his glasses. So how could he see ANY exhaust gases coming from my muffler? at least he could have gave me a valid 27151. damn, im thinking i should fight this. anyone know of the 27153 code? whats the (b) and R for?

BTW, my cars engine is completely stock and just had a major tune up (replaced all ignition items and replaced filters and such, even timed properly). so again, a 96 civic thats stock and maintained properly, spewing gases or colored gases? come on now!

i say fight it man. if he cant even write down what type of violation it is, then u can attack his credibility. its either one or the other, u can make up violation codes if ur not sure what it is. get ur case prepared and show up to court with a list of questions to ask him and present urself well. this will get u the win.

remember, the cvc he wrote down has to specifically describe what u have, if not then its wrong. like if u got a "modified exhaust ticket" and u have a full cat back system, then thats wrong because in no way u modified ur stock exhaust. get it? thats how i won my court case.
