Vtec Point Issues & Fields Vtec Controller
Man...There's something wrong with my hybrid setup for the past few months that happens every now and then....every once in a while my car will bog...and then a check engine light will come on...so i open the glove box and check what the VTEC point is set at...and it says like 2400rpm..i'm like holy ****..wtf.. so i switch it back to stock 5700rpm...btw, I have a 2000 b18c5 with a 98R ecu. Nonetheless..that lasts for only a while...as a couple of weeks later or a month later..same **** will happen again. My last occurence of this problem was last week....it happened right before I raced a 5.0...i was wondering why i felt no surge even while i was at 7,000rpm's. And I pulled over to check...again....the vtec point is set at an extremely low level.....Is there something wrong with my 98R ECU, VTEC SOLENOID, ECU WIRING, OR FIELDS VTEC CONTROLLER/WIRING??? Pls help...I'm tired of these problems ..so far I have just held down the power button the FIELDS unit..and i think that makes it inactive or not working..and rather not just a light on/off switch... If anyone has any suggestions or is familiar with this..I would appreciate advice...thanks in advance. So far...no problems with the fields unit off...
I had a problem with the field controller a while ago. after i would hit a bump or shift hard, the car would start bogging and stall out until i turned the vtec controller off and on then restarted the car. Turns out it was an internal problem with the unit. I removed it and sold it. Never had a problem since. btw i've heard of many people having this problem.
I had similiar problems..check the usual; dump switches and wiring harness and make sure everything is wired properly...Also I noticed while auto crossing If I stayed right at the vtec engagement point the rev limiter would kick in at 6k and I couldnt shift over that point...Then I would have to restart my car to reset it and everything would be fine...also throw a vtec failor or something code...but everything was fine...Somebody about a year ago when I enquired about the same problem your having said you have to cut a certain wire, believe green and white;cant think of the name... maybe somebody knows what I'm talking about...
