i have a 97 civic four door will any sohc hydrolic trans fit of does it have to be a 97 four door only

You can use virtually any D-Series tranny from 92-00.

ty the trans only pops out of second gear is it easier to replace it or try to fix it

Definitely way easier to replace the transmission, it also gives you the opportunity to upgrade, I don't know if you have a DX, LX or what but now is your chance to upgrade to the 96-00 EX or 92-95 SI tranny. They are essentially the same but the 96-00 EX tranny has stronger shift forks
I swapped one of these into my 97 DX fourdoor back in the day and I loved it!

so i should put a 92-95 si tranny rather than a 96-00 the trans thats in there is a s40 my del sol si has an s20

You can put whichever you like, essentially the gearing is the same its just that the 96-00 EX tranny has stronger shift forks that won't bend as easily as the 92-95 SI tranny shift forks
