Default Noise from passenger's side fender area

I am posting this to help out my friend.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fk3bEYm0Es

My friend owns an 07 civic ex 4 door with about 15K miles
Pls take a look at the link above and you will clearly hear the metals hitting sound coming out from the passenger's side fender area. He has not removed anything from that area and everything in his car is stock. This noise starts to come up when he drives around 70mph and very noticeable when a cross wind blows across his car. I know it's pretty hard to pin point where the noise comes from, but he has been to his dealership and they can't seem to figure it out either, so any help is appreciated.

Can you duplicate the noise when parked?

No, no noise when parked nor crusing from 0-60mph. It only happens when the car goes up to 70-80mph and could really notice the sound when side wind hits the car. It sounds like metals are not tighten all the way, so they are hitting each oher.

Could you clarify what you mean by checking the disk brake?

yeah i notice this same problem. i have almost 35k on my car now. at first i thought it was just a seed fell into the hole in the wind shield wipers. i think it has to do with the hood pins. btw my car is stock.

Man I heard a couple of ppl on this and no one has a answer!!! Hopefully Honda will have a tsb. I hope I can figure out a fix or Honda its to loud to ignore. Sushikang I don't think its just caused by your mud guards. Its something in the car that came loose or out of place causing this noise.

the dealership CAN'T figure it out? thats unheard of. i mean at least for something thats not a driveability issure.

anyway, i'd advise you to jack the car up and take the wheel off and start looking for things out of the ordinary or start wiggling stuff. check under the car also for any plastic lining thats getting caught in the way also,

-do you feel any vibration at the same time? in the whole car or the steering wheel? one place or another?
-do the noises change when the road conditions change? for example when you change lanes over the bumps or is it a constant metronome of ticking?
-do the noises get faster or louder the faster you go?

by the way its disc* brake

IDK about the early comments but believe me its def. nothing with the disc brakes. I already had the wheel off. Checked the whole area. Found some areas that could be bad and added some felt. Which reduced my noise but hasn't gotten rid of it. Its bad but not as loud as the first guys post. There are no vibration its not a wheel off balance or brake issue.

Noise can only be duplicated at highway speeds. Don't matter about road conditions. Wants the crosswinds catches it the ticking starts going.

If you think its something inside the car that came loose and Honda denies hearing anything, take the damn car apart yourself. Get your hands dirty.

O thats what I have been doing. I think I found a possible repair. But I'm going to wait till tomorrow to fully confirm it. Drove it today and it was quiet.

I discovered what was causing that noise in my car.

The radiator shroud!! When the excess windflow hits the shroud it starts to vibrate and taps against the fender and the sound is carried into the wheel well area.

I went on a road trip this weekend, but before i left i removed the shroud and drove 90-110 mph the entire way no noise.

The plastic clips came loose so I'm going to buy new ones from the stealership.

hope this helps

yea thats what I was goin to say I did this repair yesterday night. Tested this morning from work to home. No noise. Its a good peace of mind. POsted a pic of the correct way the radiator cover should be back in. Bad thing was the dealership screwed this up. I didn't pay attention to it earlier. O well.

H-T isn't acting up. It's just in the forum rules to not link to the 8th, and it will block any 8th link you put in here.
