Looking at this in the morning. Have not had much experience with this gen crx so any pointers, things I should look for would be appreciated.

 

Front suspension is torsion bars. Rear is solid live axle with rear drums. Engine is the 3 valve 1.5L before VTEC existed. 90hp stock. You'd expect rust around the rear wheel opennings...especially at the rear where the bumper meets the body. Check inside for rust around the shock towers.

Upgrades are cheap and easy from a 1st gen Integra. The front brakes are a simply rotor replacement ($12 each at autozone) with the calipers bolting on directly. The rears can be swapped to disks but it's a bear of a job and I'd only recommend it of you're putting the car on the track or have the whole winter to do it (how long it took me). If you do them all, get the integra prop valve also. You can replace the master cylinder with the integra one, but will have to grind down the portion that goes into the brake booster as it's a bit larger.

Engine swaps with an integra D16 is easy and well documented. You can do the brown top (86-87) with the vac advance as a drop in using the tranny and axles and swapping the spindles from the same integra and just plug in the ecu. The 88-89 (black top) uses an electronic advance and the wiring is somewhat more work. From memory, the brown top is 113hp and the black top 118. Motor mounts come from either the CRX or the integra, so with a donor integra, you don't have to spend any more money. A ZC engine is also a drop in with a bit more power....I don't have 1st hand experience with one so will leave you to check out redpepperracing.

A B series swap is possible and you can find old swap mounts with some looking around. It is FAR more expensive. I'm in the middle of doing this with my racecar now and very much regret having started the project. Should have just had the tranny rebuilt, thrown on a jackson racing supercharger and called it a day for waaaaay less money and far less work.

Thank you sir great info. . Although the interior was in great condition, the exterior was not. Cancer spots and some hail damage. Oh well, the search continues.
