My car sat for about 3 months without being moved. While it sat there I had new front wheel bearings pressed in. Now that the car is driving I hear what sounds like rust on the rotors rubbing. But this is constant even after driving for 45 mins, so I doubt it rust. The sound is only while in motion. Im thinking either the splash guards are rubbing or it could be the rear wheel bearings ?

screetching sound usually. You hear them all the time once they are shot. I would take tires off. Do a visual inspection. Spin each tire and listen to which one is making the noise. Not a hard problem to isolate.

 

so there wont necessarily be free play then ? Is there anyway to look at the bearing itself to say if its bad or not ?

 

bad bearings will show play all around. but to isolate it as being a bearing, check 12-6.
