Default new battery blown fuse

i put a new battery in my car and the posts were on the wrong side and without looking i hooked it up backwards. it then blew the fuse for the battery and it blows every fuse i put in there now without even starting the car as soon as i hook up the fuse it blows before i screw it on or anything. does anyone know what is going on?

sounds like an excellent way to set your car on fire with that nail.

yeah i know i did a series of ignorant things. i just got done putting a new 100amp fuse in there and then when i hooked up the battery it blew it immediatly so i dont know whats going on it may have made a ground somewhere. if anyone has any suggestions of what might be wrong i would apreciate it. its a 94 si with 240k miles on it.like i said the brake lights work but nothing else does when i had that nail on there. i have the battery unhooked now and am waiting on some help from someone so any would be greatly appreciated. its my only car so im kinda screwed until its fixed.

how long was it on there for? something probably had too much current and malfunctioning.. check the rest of your fuses i did this before and blew a number of things. for me the fuses for my deck, headlights, small lights and horn were all out.. but the fuses weren't popped, they were burned on one side (charred) so yeah.. check all that stuff first when u get the chance and try to narrow it down fixing the small things.

also for this kinda thing, from past experience w/ electrical trouble shooting its easier to look at aftermarket electrical components like for me i found it was my ricer illuminated shiftknob that was causing a hot/hot connection and blowing my tail light fuses. good luck (only after a new battery was put in and when my alternator bolt came loose from vibration.. which i replaced the battery for temporarily)

well if ur blowing fuses that means the circuit is shorting somewhere. I dont see how the fuses could be blowing with no power to the circuit.

i unhooked the alt and it is still grounding somewhere. the only fuse it blew was the indash clock and the battery fuse i replaced them both the it blew the battery fuse again after i hooked the battery back up. it has a short somewhere because even with the batt unhooked it shows a ground when you touch the thing (the little current tester thing whatever its called) to the wire next to the batter wire at the fuse box and the body of the car. could it be the starter? i talked to a guy that works on hondas and he said it was either the alt the dizzy or the motherboard im hoping its none of those. does anyone have any tips on narrowing down where the short could be because that wire i tested goes to alot of things.

ok i talked to a guy and he said there is a fuse in the wire going to the starter but i dont see how this would cause it to blow other fuses too does anyone on here know what he was talking about?
