What my b20 EK to be QUIET!!! tired of noise!
i got a EK with a b20 swap. The guy before me put a custom catback done at a muffler shop that consists of a str8 pipe resonator and a crappy loud *** muffler! I like the str8 pipe, but i wan't the car to be quieter. I have a stock GSR muffler i would like to put on, but it looks like it won't fit to great. Also i was looking at those twin loop mufflers. Do you recommend those and will they fit my EK hatch? thanks for you advice guys and gals.
if you want it quiet than go all back to stock. stock is like 1 7/8in. so you choose. live with the noise and have some power or go back to the pee shoooter and slow your car down
Get rid of the straight pipe, get custom piping done (if you want a smaller pipe diameter) and get ahold of an OBX Twin Loop. Numerous people have used the OBX Twin Loop as opposed to the expensive and semi-hard-to-find Mugen Twin Loop.
Good luck.
Good luck.
as you can probably guess by my sn i also have a b20 but in my ej and i'm rockin 2 1/2in str8 to a skunk2 megapower muffler Loud as F*CK and im in the same spot i want to go quiet honestly id consider an oval type muffler like greddy sp2 great performance looks and quiet stock is quiet but a little less HP and what we have now is probably losing power as well bigger isnt always better
for the best tone on a honda i suggest
choice of diameter:
long resonator > longest magnaflow 4" round muffler > muffler of choice.
i have this set up and it has no bee like sound and hardly any droan

Apex WSII is the best investment ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heard the Greddy evoII is nice also has more of a grunt to the exhaust but I cant vouch for that I had a Mugen Twin loop a long long time ago is also nice and has a nice grunt to it.
My friend run a 2.5 custom exhaust line on his sleeved 85mm ls vtec.
He was running a OBX twin loop with a shitty resonator that looked more like a test pipe.
The noize was "raisonable" but it was a little bit too loud.
After 3.5 hour of dyno tuning on the 2.0L ls vtec, the OBX failed and the noize became horrible ...
(the packing of the muffler probably overheated, don't know ...)
Now, he run the same exhaust line, but we replacer the little shitty resonator with a magnaflow ' "resonator" and we replaced the OBX twinloop with a Mugen twin loop (
).
I have to say that it's probably the best exhaust setup I have ever heard because it's really quiet in town when you don't need to push the car and when you snap de gaz, the sound is really great, not raspy, just perfect.

This is the "muffler" we used as a resonator.
( it's not exactly this one, the one we use is 18'' body and 2.5'' in/out but you get the idea ).
I would use this in combo with another muffler if I was you.
Also, you can check for the DC5R muffler, it's aprox 2.5'' inlet, it's not str8 but it have a "trap" that open when their is enought flow and it became almost streight.

It's a great OEM muffler, my friend have one on his kitchen floor and we opened it for fun, it is well designed !
But not the best if you plan to run a bigger setup.
(I will probably put this muffler on my next swap, oem built b18c5)
Apexi WS2 and Tanabe Hyper are also know to be quiet, but they are not cheap.
(yes i know, mugen twin loop are not cheap)
It's up to you, here is a video of my friend with the OBX twin loop when he was running is 170 whp oem built b16 back in the day (2006)
The OBX twinloop was brand new at that time.

it's not everybody that want to pay 500+ for a exhaust system that is not even made in stainless steel ...
And yes I know that the magnaflow that I posted is a muffler.
In fact, we use 2 straight muffler.

for n/a or a DD I would choose ws2 any day. they are quiet, much better performing than stock, they are clean and you have a little bit better tone than a stock one.
ws2 and be done with it listen to everyone.
