Default HELP! Low Piston Pressure!!

I ran my 92 accord almost out of oil (It burns a lot; 4 qt per tank of gas) on a roadtrip. When I got home I did a compression check and I had 15 PSI in the number four piston as well as my car having a very shaky & rough idol (once it starts going its fine...). I was wondering if anybody knew how to fix the low PSI or if I have to get a new engine. Help please!

you need to first go further into searching and find out what isn't holding the compression. bent valve(s), piston rings not sealing?

But since the engine for that car can be found pretty cheap you may not want to screw with the engine and just get another one and swap it in.

Agreeing with mr.touringaccord as to find out what could be the problem. On the other hand, you could try of those products that help restore compression, i believe it's like an additive to oil. It should help reduce the burning of oil, help the piston rings seal the compression, stop leaks and... oh well.. you read the bottle!

your engine is on its last leg. you can either get the block honed and get yourself a new set of piston rings or get a whole new engine. your buring way to much oil.

I agree with the above, it sounds like your piston rings are fried.

You could use that "crap in a bottle" that helps restore compression but honestly you are only covering up the problem, ever seen the movie "Big Daddy"?

She will need to be rebuilt, if she can be.

I'm no expert on compression tests but, Wow, 15 psi. Your only running on 3 cylinders my friend. I don't think there is a bottle of anything out there to help you out with loosing 4qts a week/2.

Your choices are spend the money, rebuild your engine and have a fresh motor for another 200,000 or try and find a low millage engine and do a swap to get a few more years out of her.

The question is what are your plans for the car? Do you plan on keeping it and fixing it up or is it just a daily driver that you only plan on driving for a few more years anyway. If you don't have any big future plans for the car and you just need it to get you around for a few more years. Then I would go for a F22A* swap. If you can find one with relatively low mileage that would be a bonus.

If you are looking to fix her up then now is the time to start planning what you see for her in the future. Maybe A naturally aspirated Built H22 or boosted F22/F23. Then now would be a good time to swap in that particular motor and run it for a while until your ready to start your build.

& Good luck

I just need it to get me around im a broke college student and i need it until I can get out of college. Basically im looking for the cheapest way to fix it. Would it ruin the car to drive it around on 3 cylinders? (I seriously only have 200$ and I need my car to get to work)

Engine is basically already ruined if you're running it on half a quart of oil. Cheapest option IMO is to swap the motor. In that case I guess run it till it dies...but that could be a city block. The cost of pouring oil into it isn't practical either, i'd just throw recycled oil in it if I were you. I think it'd be all around cheaper and easier just to buy a $500 car that runs.
