How do i install this fuel pump?
this is a good thread
since you;re not gonna run it in the fuel tank, do you just install it outside the tank and take the stock fuel pump out... ? or what ?

Yes, you should mount it under the car near the tank. That's similar to the Carter one I used on my Dart for the big boy nitrous shot
so, you take the stock pump out ? or leave it in ? I don't understand, since the stock pump can only flow so much in comparison to the paxton's pushing...
For pumps such as that, you have to mount that pump under the car. You take out the stock pump. run -8 to the rail and -6 back to the tank. Prepare to get tons of fittings and steel braided lines. A good spot would be right in between the left rear wheel and the tank. Somewhere over there on a civic. You will have to find a nice and flat surface to put that pump. I believe this has been covered man times, and it probaly could be found using a search.

i belive the best way to use that pump is with a sump. but don't ask me exactly how, becasue i don't know. but i do know it has to be welded onto your gas tank. i guess you could mount it externall and run lines...but the sump is better.
Im pretty sure the second return line you see if a vent since hes running the cell in cab. You could also mount the fuel pump agaist the rear axle...you could even do this with a stock fuel tank....
this may help make a little more clear...THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU DO. <IMG SRC=" C:\unzipped\Im001025\IM000917.JPG " BORDER="0">

okay...i think you guys mis-understood my question...i wasn't asking WHERE to mount the fuel pump...i was asking how to run the feed into the stock fuel tank without a stock fuel pump.
Okay, I'm running the Aeromotive 1000hp fuel pump which is basically the same pump. There are two ways to properly install the pump. You can have a sump welded into your factory gas tank like this one:

This is a Competition Engineering fuel sump. You can buy this from Summit for about $60. The part number is CEE-4040. One of the ports out of the front will be your feed line. The one next to that one can be used if you plan on running dual pumps. The one at the bottom will be your drain. So you will be plugging these. You will run the return the same way that your factory return is ran. If you plan on switching over to AN fittings for the return, you will need to buy this fitting:

You can also buy this from Summit for about $6.00, the part number is EAR-991945.
Or, to make thing straight forward, you can install a fuel cell in the trunk. I chose to install a fuel cell in the trunk. Make sure you mount the pump lower than the sump.
I have seen people put an AN fitting in place of the drain plug for the factory gas tank, and just use that as the feed...no sump. I personally do not suggest doing it that way. But hey, that might work too. Hope this helped.

To add to boosted hybrid's above post.
THe fitting that is shown there will go where the stock feed is. So you will be turning the stock feed into the return line. Dont forget to cap off the original return barb fitting.
After all this, why not just forget the factory tank and go for a lightweight fuel cell??
