dpfi-mpfi and auto to manual swap
^ will i run into problems with the mpfi swap because my car is auto. i am switching it to manual at the same time im doing the mpfi. and im using a pm6 si ecu. manual.
You will only run into problems if you don't know how to wire it up. That said the wiring is pretty straight forward. I did the same conversion recently. I followed these write ups and everything went fine.

I did the auto to manual conversion too, it was a success except for the fact that i dont know how to get my reverse light to light up when in reverse. lol
when i do the swap and im running a manual ecu and manual cluster do i need to make it so the car thinks its in park? i already have everything and im just trying to make it easy the first time.

im not worried bout the reverse lights. i was just wondering if my 90 dx automatic cluster would be any different with the manual cluster/
You need to jump the connection that was used to let the car start in park. The only significant difference in the cluster is the PRND, and the tach if you can find one. As long as you can find a 90-91 cluster it will be plug'n'play.
well i had a 90 hf cluster that had 60k miles on it but i traded it for a 88 cluster to go with my 88 dash. why wont it plug n play?
90-91 and 88-89 are wired different. They are not plug 'n' play. You will have to do some repinning unless you replace the entire chassis harness and that is a lot more work that finding the cluster that matches the year of your car.

That explains a lot. I thought something didn't go right in the wiring because the reverse lights didnt come on when engaged in reverse
