bone stock rods, pistions , rings etc....even factory head bolts only thing done to the motor was an inline PRO headgasket and cam gears to correct timing back to stock once the head gaket was done , becasue it was thicker and it throws off timming

I have seen atleast 4 civic hatches around here that has run 20+ pounds on stock rods, Karl, , Stan,Kevin, and John, all with thicker headgaskets, and afc 440's and a fmu with walbro, Karls motor was pushing 140K and ran 11.3'a with stock b18c power, Jason

I would do rods for that much hp but that is just me, if you have killer tuning then you might be able to pull it off but it would be pushing it IMO.

If you Feel you must use pistons and rods with an 9.1 ratio then use the OEM stock headgasket.

but for any power under 450 then u don't need all that , just use a thicker headgasket to drop compression.

so then i should skip the pistons and rods? and just get an inline pro gasket?

can I push 350 HP with stock rods and pistons? around 18 pounds?

Who is going to tune your set-up and how good are they? Like Jinx said, if tuned properly stock parts can hold the power. However, if tuned poorly and/or abused, even a fully built engine can fail.

when they shot peen a rod they do a process similiar to sand blasting...but with small metal beads...it smoothes out the metal...and stress relieves the metal which increases strength and life of the part... then maganfluxing they coat the rod with a substance and inspect it for cracks or flaws . also called magnetic particle inspection. prices vary from place to place...but its inexpensive compared to buying aftermarket rods. and if you dont plan on going over 450 hp or so...its a wise chioce.

i think that process will leave me without my car for a pretty long time...
how much does something like that run?

As of now, Im just looking at my options and seeing wheather the rods and pistons are really needed. Tunnign the car, never done it before, might take a shot at it, but i need to find a good turbo tuner in the area...

Would you guys suggest to get rods and pistons or thick gasket???

The way I now view things is ike this.... Doing the minimum is not acceptable. Doing what is needed will get you by. Doing things to the max is just enough.

...And you can never go overboard.

(and I don't use this philosophy on just cars)

Your right. But stock components are stronger than most tend to believe. Just ask Jinx...

you re right but , I must say that we are not saying we run 22lbs of boost and only making 240 hp , I am saying that we can run 22lbs and make anywhere from 360hp to 400hp on a stock block and Just a thicker headgasket in the motor. But it is true that none of this means anything if you have the car tunned by the wrong person, because no mater what you have " Full built or bone stock " improper tunning and install and also the lack of fuel will destroy ANY motor.

and also we have also proved that the sleves in the honda motors are strong as hell as well becasue our race car dyno'ed over 600hp to the wheels on stock sleves , and yes of course that motor does have aftermarket pistions and rods but it also has stock sleves and has been running on them for a bit now.

I trust Honda OEM parts far more then most any other aftermarket part.

and what blows my mind is that ( people that are building a car that might never see the track and only want's maybe 10lbs or so , Spend all this big money on a fully built block and head etc,etc........when they never needed to In the first place , just becasue they read or heard somewhere that " THIS GUY PUT A TURBO ON AND IT BLEW HIS CAR UP IN A FEW DAYS "
I would bet money on it that they is a good reason why that happened like
1- it was installed wrong
2- tunned wrong
3-turned the boost up with out any fuel upgrade or proper adjustment
4-the list goes on and on and on....

Bottom line Is YES you can run a daily driven car b-motor on a stock block @10lb -14lbs on pump gas and on race gas you can run up to 25lbs !!!
so there is no need to build the block if you are never going to see past 14lbs at all.
