Default Car Timing. Is this the correct position? pls pls help

Hi,

Regarding this topic i created yesterday https://honda-tech.com/zero...41064

My car has been running very sluggish for years and until today I open up the engine cover to access the timing belt area and here is how it looks like:

Note that the "UP" part is not at the TDC point like the manual says, am i correct?
If so, how dfficult is it to get it back to th TDC point? Do I have to follow the same procedue as like I was to replace a timing belt?

Thanks

lol.

you have to incorporate the mark on the crank pulley with a mark on the timing belt cover. rotate the crank pulley with a socket and ratchet until the two marks are lined up. when you have done this, recheck cam pulley.

How can I access the crank pulley?

Can you tell me exactly what I need to do for both cam-shaft pulley and crankshaft pulley to check for the timing?

Lol!!
You know we are blind here we dont know were the crank pulley is positioned at. It seems your mechanics really didnt help. First of all what you need to do is do a compression test if you havent already. Then do a complete tune up if the compression test is good at around 180psi 10+/- on all 4. After all that then check your timing but check it with a timing gun, you can rent one I believe and if its off then fix timing. It could be other things as well.

Timing is correct because i took it to a shop and they adjusted it with timing gun. One thing...My car runs noticeably gets sloower when it gets hot (after car started for a few minutes), so could it be the ignition coil?

You can't check the valve timing with a strobe light.
even if the spark timing is correct, the valve timing may still be incorrect, they both have to be set correctly, first do the belt position/crank puley/cam pulley, then check/set the ignition timing. Buy a Haynes repair manual, it's all in there.

Ignition coil was tested with a multimeter and the results are within the specify ranges, so ignition coil is one less possible issue from my list. Now... my dumb question is if my camshaft pulley and crank pulley are not lined up properly, is it a difficult job for a mechanic to do and how much should i expect to pay him if it was off. I attempted to do this, but found it quite difficult to do.

Thanks
