door moulding/molding bolt sheered
i was removing my door moldings for the first time, probably the entire life of the car, and when i tried to loosten the bolt right at the end of the door towards the back of the car to allow the molding to be removed, the bolt easily sheered off clean.
now i have a bolt with threads inside and a male end that isnt long enough to do anything with.
now my question is what can i do to secure the molding so some idiot cannot just pull it off.
or do you think it would be just fine without that final securing point?
i think two sided tape would get soggy from water?
if i got someone to maybe weld on a small extension do you think that would be an option?
i could figure out a way to secure it inside the car even if it wasnt threaded.

that little peice with the threading looks like it pops out otherwise you can ghetto rig it. maybe you could do something tricky like cut that part of the molding in half. like the hotdog way im talking. then put in a new screw with a big head and glue the molding back together. or go to the junkyard and work an extra hour to pay for it.
That peice that holds the threaded part pops out. Go to the junkyard and try to find another one.
Good luck though because the one on my car is broken too, and i tried to get a new one at the junkyard... i tried at least 20 different cars and every single one, drivers side, passenger side, rear doors... the nut either was stripped, or the bolt was so rusted that it just turned to dust when i took the nut off.

that reminds me of the day i went to the junk yard to get a b series mechanical speedo because those dumb tabs always break when you tyr to put them in. anyway i found like 6 speedos and they were all stuck in the tranny super tight. that day sucked. anyway i think the guy fixed it or something because he hasnt posted anything back.
