Default REVERSE LIGHTS PROBLEM

I have a 2001 CRV and noticed the reverse lights went out. I noticed this because of the "R" in the cluster illuminating. I switch the bulbs and it did not correct the problem.

Then I noticed that I can get the lights on when I maneuver the shift lever at a slight angle. Anyone know what the deal is with this?

Could be a range switch malfunction. Could be a lot of things. Take it to a competent technician.

I'm having the same problem with an 03 Pilot. Any resolution KID_DEATH? phootbag, my car has yet to throw a cel or the blinking D. What would a tech do to diagnose further? Is the Transmission Range Switch the main link between the reverse lights and the illuminated R on the dash?
