Default Paint gun set

http://www2.northerntool.com/product/200310925.htm

Well i have never painted a car before, other then my toy cars with a spray can. but my bros car is getting rusty and crappy, paint is fading ect.. and i would love to repaint it and do the prep work on it. IDk how to deal with the rust though.

Any way Would these spray guns work to paint the car?
lay down primer, base coat, clear coat???

any good sites where i can learn how to paint a car.?

For the rust, you're better off just buying patch panels and cutting/welding them in.

Take your time sanding, make sure you get every edge and corner.

Just google "how to paint a car" you'll find something.

I wouldn't recommend that paint gun because i've never heard of the brand.

Check out http://www.autorefinishdevilbiss.com/. They have some decent guns that you can get for around $100.

That's what we're spraying my car with right now, and its looking pretty damn good.

Make sure you get the right tips for primer, base and clear.

I'm pretty sure its a 1.8 tip for primer, 1.5 for base and 1.3 for clear, but read up on it.

Good luck!

Yeah, you can re use them as many times as u want. Just keep them clean. Run paint thinner through them after each coat.

I like spraying my clear with a 1.4 tip. I tried the 1.3 and didn't like it.

well with the 1.3 I would get more orange peel. I can lay out the clear very good with the 1.4. Its just hard cause if I'm not very careful, I'll get a couple of runs but it hasn't happened for a while. 1.3 is better though cause it atomizes better, its just I do better with the 1.4.

hey whats up guys, hopefully i can help yal out on the paint gun issue. the only differance in performance on 1.3 compared to a 1.4 is the spray width pattern. regrardless what tip you use, the gun will always flow the same amount of paint. so since the 1.3 is spraying, lets say 4 to 6 inch pattern, compared to a 6 - 8 inch pattern from a 1.4 tip. the 1.3 is applying more paint in a smaller area. so if your using a smaller tip, make your paint strokes faster. alot of painters from body shop use 1.3 tips to do the job fast and flawless.

i agree with using a 1.4 tip its my favorite so far...those guns should be perfect...its the mixing that gets tricky...when i started my mixing was bad...get tech sheets and messure as close as you can...its not as easy as it looks but fun to learn....leave me an email and ill send you a little Ebooklet on body work and paint basics...its 65 pages written by a 25 year vet on autobody and it help me a lot...

Depends on the gun and what it is you're spraying as to what size tip. If i was spraying clear a Sata RP with a 1.2 would rock. Solvent base I'd use an Iwata LPH400 1.3 with the orange cap. Water base I'd use the Sata 3000 HVLP 1.25 WSB

^^^^Dude, your using the Bentley's of paint guns. You can't make this kid go buy a $600 paint gun, lol. By the way, how does that gun spray? Kid, if you're going to keep using youe guns for later jobs, get a harbour freight $40 gun for primer, a descent $100-160 base gun, de Villbiss, matco, Sharpe and the same for clear. I have a 1.5 for base and a 1.3 for clear and no prob. what so ever. Check this website: Eastwood.com or Autobodyhelp.com I get a lot of material and products from them and its a free catalog.

I bought a pair of Astro Pneumatic LVLP guns. The primer gun is 1.8 while the base/clear gun is 1.4. The primer gun was very easy to control. I can't wait to try the other one.
