Default K&N Drop Make a Differance? And a Intake question

I am thinking about picking one up. I don't like aftermarket intakes and there to expensive for not much gain. Any one have any success with a K&N drop in filter or is it just as good as OEM but last 100,000 times longer.

The only intake I would consider is the Comptec one. Does it improve performance or just adds a better tone? How do you like it?

Here are a few questions I have about the K&N filter and Comptec intake. I know that with more performance the MPGs go down and that is not really a concern. I was just wondering if any intake or filter improves it if you drive like a granny.

Does it help with MPG?
Does It add any power?
Does it sound the same?

sounds the same pretty much cant really tell u about gains cause when i put it in i also gutted the box and added a spoon snorkle. It feels the same as my k&n intake did but irecet the ecu so it should feel better when it gets used to it.

Do you think the spoon snorkle helped?
I didnt really want to get one because I can see that there is a cover in the front and I didnt want to remove it.

The only real world advantage i see using a KN filter is that you can reuse it and clean it half decent vs throw away filter

you will not see a noticeable mpg, speed, noise gain

I dropped in the K&N in place of the OEM, and there was absolutely no difference.

Looks sweet. Thats the exact Look I was going for. I might be going thin in the future.

Did you have to take out the bumper to install the snorkle?

Let me know if you feel any differance in any way.

S2k bpatba. lol

oh yeah.
K&N - you will not notice a difference.
Snorkel - may have the slightest effect, but only at speed, and even then probably hard to notice.

there is a noticable sound difference with the k&n i didnt really notice a power difference, more of a its louder and sounds more powerful kind of thing. i have also gutted my airbox, and blocked off the resonator. i have a replica spoon snorkel and i know it helps. i let a friend borrow it for a track day and my car felt sooo slow and sluggish on the interstate with out it. he said his car felt quite a bit better on the track with it.

just a quick question, how do you block off the resonator? if you block it wont that restrict exhaust flow?

^ he was talking about the resenator attached to the aibox. Take ur oem filter out and ull see a lil hole on the botton right of the box thats what u block off.

And to the op yea i had to take off the bumper to sintall it cause u need to take off the bumnper to take the oem cooling plate off. It takes like 10 mins for me cause i have takin my bumper off so many times.
