running a 1 gallon fuel cell under the hood, anybody with experience?
I want to dump my stock gas tank, and simplify things by running a 1 gallon fuel cell under the hood. Anybody with experience?
I was thinking about putting it where the windshield washer fluid used to be. Should tuck right in there, nice and tidy.
Something exactly like this.

This is basically a dedicated drag car I drive on the street. God bless Montana motor vehicle laws.
I'm not worried about what happens if there is an accident. Just about the installation and application.
Thanks for your thoughts and input.

worst idea i've ever heard of.
a drag car.... that you drive on the street... with the head of the battering ram going to be your fuel container.

Don't end up dead.

So the five people that took the time to respond have no experience with a front mounted fuel cell, or how to install it. Yet compelled to be involved in the discussion and offer no tech information or experience. and completely ignored my little disclaimer, "I'm not worried about what happens if there is an accident. Just about the installation and application."
I knew this was how this was going to go...
on me.

Thank you for your concern. Where's the gas on a motorcycle? Ever been hit by a car on a bicycle? I'm still safer than those other scenarios. Also, if an accident is brutal enough to crumple the front of the car to windshield, your still leaking gas everywhere from the stock setup, and a LOT more of it than say 64 ounces. Do you know how to mount a front mounted fuel cell or have experience with one? I would appreciate some help.

Yes I have. I picked up a barrel this spring for other vehicles. Not this car. This car uses pump gas. I also didn't say I had any intentions of running any particular fuel in it. Do you know how to mount a front mounted fuel cell or have experience with one? I would appreciate some help.

I'm in a small rural Montana town. Our cruise is .7 mile in each direction and we stop to get ice cream and snacks periodically and hang out. I can make 10-15 cruises or simply run down and get a soda (which is how it usually goes), many times a day on one gallon. This is not a daily driver, it's a car that I drive on the street now and then. I suspect it sees 25-30 miles a year on the street. Do you know how to mount a front mounted fuel cell or have experience with one? I would appreciate some help.

I'll say, There is a DEFINITE fail in this thread, but it has nothing to do with name of the thread, but the lack of information in it for somebody searching the forums for information on how and where to mount a 1 gallon fuel cell under your hood.
This is why searches on forums sometimes seem like a waste of time. I call it the "carpet factor". A guy posts a picture of something he wants advice about. He gets 10 replies. Of the 10, one person might offer an idea. The other 9 comment on crap in the background of the picture, usually the 'carpet'.
Here are the 10 replies he would likely get when posting a picture of a head, on a piece of carpet, asking about a valve in the number 2 chamber that's clearly bent:
1) "Dude, you should vacuum once in a while..."
2) "OMG, is that dog **** in the corner..."
4) " I think I see my lunch..."
5) "I've got that same lamp..."
4) "seriously man, you should clean that rug..."
6) " x2 "
7) " OMG, roflmao..."
8) "What's with the carbon in the number 3 hole..."
9) " I think that sensor has a loose wire..."
10) "the intake or the exhaust valve...?" And the answer, is.."THE BENT ONE... LOOK AT THE BENT ONE..."
*UGH*
Think before you reply. Are you contributing useful technical information relating to the question? Or muddying a thread, and contributing to making threads with no valuable information in them.

Try searching in the drag race forum or start a thread there because people in that forum are more likely to have the kind of experience you are looking for. I found a couple threads that might help. that will be $7.50 hahahaha
