Default 1 gallon fuel cell placement

I'm wanting to run a separate fuel system for runs at the track. This looks like the only place to put it. Ok or not?

Gonna relocate the battery here.

Is it just me...or does anyone else see a problem with running a seperate gas tank under the hood, I.E. safety concerns?

Will that clear your tranny? What about radiator hoses and/or intercooler piping?

It should have a little more than 1" clearance to the case, a little less than that at the clutch release arm. Hoses and pipes shouldn't be a problem. I'm just eyeballing things with a ruler.

You'll get rid of the fuel filter setup so just put it there.

Right above the differential? A chunked diff makes for a bad day, even more so if it chops up your gas tank. Besides i'm keeping the stock fuel system for stomping around on the street.

How often does that happen that it's a consideration? If it's still a street car i'd be more worried about a gallon of race gas 6 inches behind your bumper but thats just me.

It will be empty on the street, as the stock tank will be empty at the track.

what will be the purpose of that?...why not keep the stock tank and put in very little fuel when at the track...if youre tryin to save weight...keeping the stock tank and adding a fuel cell doesnt make sense to me..usually ppl add a fuel cell to get rid of the stock tank

I want to run expensive race gas at the track, dont want it to get diluted with the cheap stuff that wont come out of the tank.

You could run a valve to run the stock tank dry at the track via the fuel pump... or even a small drain would work nicely. Just throwing some more thoughts out there I don't know about the placement of the tank, sorry.

if you drain the tank then all of it should come out so it will be ok to run the race gas

I was planning on using the pump to get it out.

It wont all come out unless you pull the tank out. It sits over in the sides and the low spots. At least 1/2 gallon.

if your car can run and drive fine on pump gas then mixing a measly 1/2 gallon or less with some 100 octane won't hurt you any... why waste time on a separate fuel cell??? what is your setup anyway N/A? turbo? and what octane are you planning on running?

with the money saved without buying the extra fuel cell/pump/filter, etc...you could've filled your tank with race gas more then enough times to race.

Too late, already got the stuff. I'll probably end up ditching the stock tank and cut down on the street runs.

Yea, seriously not worth the hassle or extra $$.

If you are dead set on doing that, then mount it in the trunk and plumb it from there.
