Default car shuts off after i accelerate

I got a 99' prelude, it started today first the would turn on cause of the battery was low so they gave me charge and turned on so I drove about 2 block and the car turned off, so then i got another battery drove back home when I reached a stop the cars idle was going way to low so i accelerated to keep the car from turning off......What can it be? When i turn the car on the idle stays steady like normal then if i accelerate it goes sraight down and off.........help thanks in advance

what is the situation., its starts but you can drive a good distance my friend says it may be the fuel injectors or fuel pump, how long has it been sitting and what where the conditions

also check the fuel filter

I dont think its the alternator because the car stays on even after diconnecting the battery and from what I know the car should turn off, if the alternator wasn't workin........
well it turns on and it idles normal and steady but as soon as u accelerate and let go the idle goes straight down and turns off instead of staying at 800-900rpm, so for it not to turn off u gatta keep accelerating.
it was just over night and the condition of the car is good...If it was the fuel pump , injectors or the fuel filter wouldn't u feel a lag or somethin when u accelerated?

could be ignition switch cuz there was a recall on it. and if it starts shuting more and more often it could be it.

that recall is in regards to the engine still running even when you have the keys out of the ignition.

Try this: With the car warm'd up, disconnect the vacuum line that goes to the EGR valve, drive around, and see if it still stalls on you when you come to a stop. I just want to eliminate a possible stuck open EGR valve.

try tightening the alternator pulley and maybe a new fuel filter

i have the exact same problem that my car idles fine and warms up but as soon as its warm and i hit the gas the rpms go up and then down to 0 and dies. i have a 1994 honda accord lx and i just recently got thermostat changed and a couple other things and then started noticing this problem. When my car is cold or hasn't been driven in awhile it starts up fine and seems fine because its idling higher. I also had the iacv cleaned out while everything else was getting fixed. my mechanic seems to think thats its still something with the iacv. i have looked up tons of things online as well. i am not getting a cel and it seems like my hoses are fine. the one thing i did notice what when i disconnected the hose from my head that goes to the intake manifold the car doesn't shut off when warm. But then i took it on a 2 hour drive and it started to shut off again. The iacv seems like the most probable but it could also be in the throttle body or the throttle position sensor. there were things also saying that it could be the egr valve. its not the alternator and doubtful that it would be the fuel filter because i had all my filters changed out.

I have a 95 honda accord lx and it shut off this morning. It will start up and then cut off again. My oil light and battery light came on. Do anybody know what could be wrong with it??

We need a lot more information than that. The oil light and battery light will come on if the car dies. When those lights come on when the car is running is when you need to worry. If the oil light ever comes on when you're driving you need to immediately pull over and park as if you have low oil it can be a matter of seconds before the engine is destroyed.

my car will sometimes have the same conditions in hot conditions, seems to stall out on me when i shift to neutral. I adjusted the idle and it has so far solved the problem... however no really hot days since adjustment. I actually removed the idle adjusting screw completely and idle is only at 800rpm

I don't think you actually removed the idle adjusting screw cause if you back it off too much even without taking it off it will cause a huge vacuum leak and the idle will bounce. You must be referring to something else.

Negative ghost rider, removed adjusting screw (flat head brass lookin screw top left of tb next to vacuum ports) no vacuum leak idle around 800.

Not entirely true. My 97 SH was shutting off intermittently while driving; replaced the ignition switch when it became more frequent. Problem solved. Also, Honda America said that it had already been replaced under recall. I am the second owner. And I bought it in 2000, before the recall was issued. I know that switch was never replaced. I have all repair receipts, and I have used the same independent mechanic since 2002.

What is concerning to me is this. Even if I am totally wrong about the switch being replaced, Honda seems willing to perform a safety recall only once...
