NEED SOME HELP PLEASE
i got a friend with a 95 honda accord, and he says that theres a winding noise when he driveing also when it's in park and the motor is reved. A mechanic told him that it might be the lower bearings?
This is one of those things like you hear on Car Talk.
Try to narrow down what part of the engine it's from. It may well be a bearing, or a $30 timing belt tensioner. Regardless, it's sort of urgent to find out what it is. Squealing can be from:
Water pump
Tensioners
Bearings (scary)
Camshaft (also scary)
Any belt
Any belt pulley
Harmonic balancer/crank pulley
Air conditioning compressor
Try to rule out belts by spraying each with a spritzer of water, or some WD-40. Do this while the engine's running, one belt at a time.
Look at your engine's underside carefully. Any antifreeze dripping? Oil?
Let us know what you find.
Thanks,
Ari
