Default Help! Intake manifold question.

The other day i was cleaning out the air inake on my H23. When i removed the pipe and clamps, i found a piece of tinfoil in my intake manifold, just before the butterfly. It was plugging up a hole. i removed the piece of tinfoil because i did not want it getting sucked in. Ever since i did this, my idle has been high and "jumps." Can someone tell me, "is there supposed to be a hole in my intake manifold?"

Search for any of the hundreds of idle threads. You most likely need to adjust your FITV (fast idle thermo valve).

the tin foil was disabling the function of the Fast Idle Thermo Valve.. take a picture of your throttle body (the thing attached to the throttlebody on the bottom is the FITV)

and thats OK btw, it just takes longer for the car to warm-up. the FITV is pretty useless for people like me since it never snows in SF or gets that cold

So i went to research the FITV. i ended up finding a post. it turns out the previous owner took mi FITV out which is why the tinfoil was there to just plug the hole. ill have to purchase a new FITV but for anyone who has the surging idle like i did, heres the link https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1003988
