Anytime I boost the car, when the RPMs come down, the car gets a gas odor in it. The car smells like gas out of the exhaust when under boost. I took it to a shop and we found that the MSD igntion I had was retarding the timing of the car to 0 even though we didn't have it retarded. The shop thought that maybe since it was affecting the timing, more gas was getting in than could get burned. I no longer have the ignition hooked up and I still get the smell. No leaks that I can tell. A buddy was following me and said it is very potent. Could I be just running really rich. All I have on the car is the DRAG III kit, APEX N1, AEM fuel rail, FP-Boost-EGT gauges, S-AFC. Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated.

 

Do you have a afc or safc. If you do you are prob. running your car to rich at certain rpm's.

 

It is an S-AFC. I have it leaned out a little bit and didn't really notice a difference but didn't want to do too much since I wasn't doing it on a dyno. Since it is in the car and out the exhaust it would be unburnt fuel? It wouldn't be the line from the tank to the engine bay, or could it?

 

does you car seem to run right. does it bogg?

 

it doesn't seem to bog, but it runs better now that it doesn't have the igntion on it.
