Default Can 304 stainless steel be welded to aluminized steel?

Sorry for my ignorance but I'm trying to buy supplies for my exhaust. I have SS vband flanges and I think I would rather use aluminized steel pipe instead of SS pipe if possible.

TIA

Yes you can weld the two together. Get a wirewheel or a flapdisk or something of the sort to take off the aluminized coating on your weld surfaces. Use 309 wire for best results, however mild steel wire or any other ss grade will work longer than your exhaust will if you clean and consistant penetration.

don't these two materials create a real toxic gas when welded? or I am thinking of something else

Yeah, I have done it. The aluminizing goes really deep so you have to clean it really good. Plus the material the pipe is made of is not very good. Your welds won't be very pretty.
