Default 96 civic hx, wanting to use 99 si stock intake, and header???

Hello all, new here just trying to get some good info for wifeys HX. It's a 96 and has really bad paper ebay short ram intake and I wanted to go back to stock, so I was wondering if the 99si stock intake system will work? Also, it has really bad exhaust system thats extremely loud so I bought a greddy evo II all to find out that they put a straight pipe on it as well, so I figured might as well buy a high flow cat and be done with it....Now I think I might need to get a header as well because the OD of the factory header fits almost all the way into the high flow:-(
so what header can I use, meaning from a 96-00 civic ex/si maybe? thank you for all your help guys and gals.

Ninja edit: just found out the intake tube on the si is larger due to the throttle body on the si being bigger, anybody have a stock tube for sale;-)

Preston

If you want a stock one, I'd get one from a 99-00 Civic Si as they have a tubular header style manifold. You will have to move your O2 sensor from in front of the engine to behind the engine as the 99-00 has the O2 in a different spot.

A b-series (99-00 Civic Si) will not bolt onto a d-series (ex, hx, lx, dx).

OP - get a 96-00 ex exhaust manifold and cat. As for the air box, I have one that I took off my hx I'll sell you.

How much you want for it shipped to 94571?
the car already has stock exhaust manifold on it, but I bought a greddy evo II to get rid of the nasty thing already on it, and it doesn't mount up due to no cat so I bought a hight flow and it's a little too big...so I was wondering which header (like off of a 96-00 EX) would work??? Just trying to get better gas mileage for the car, wifey commutes around 140 every day. thank you for your help...LMK about the intake!

140 miles? Holy crap.

You should be able to get an exhaust shop to custom weld the exhaust for you.

LOL nice screen name;-) I was hoping to be able to get a header, then everything will be smogg legal and flow really well, which hoping in turn will make the MPG's go up:-/
