I've got a set of vx rims with 175/70 tires on my b16 crx and I dont get any traction. I have a friend with 13in first gen crx si wheels with 215/50 sumitomo's on them. If i got a set of 215/50's would it fit my vx wheels?

 

VX wheels are 13x5. 215/50/13's need a 6" wide wheel to mount to.

You're not aware of rule number 1 in tire selection, so I'll say it again. The tire make and model is much, much, MUCH more important to performance and grip than the treadwidth. So if you want better performance, concentrate on getting better, stickier tires, not wider tires. This is a perfect example of that phenomenon. Nowadays there aren't any decent tires in 13" sizes, other than R compound track tires. And wider, crappy tires just give you crappy performance.

I suggest you get some 15" wheels, and get some 195/50-15 tires for them, which will be perfect for your CRX. There are a lot of used, inexpensive 15" wheels available, including ones that came on cars like the Integra GS-R, which will fit your car.
