Front hood protection on new Si, worth it?
Hey guys, my girl just bought an Si at the dealer and they we're offering her a deflector that I personally hate, so I opted for the plastic protective band instead, I'm having second thoughts since and I was wondering if we should ditch the protection all together.. Does anyone have a pic of what it looks like with the protective adhesive on the hood? I have searched but I have yet to see one installed... She bought it in Fbp, but color doesnt matter, any pics would be appreciated
What do you guys think... is it worth it? Do you think the hood would sustain alot of damage without any protection device on it or not? She will use the car in winter conditions so I thought that could be usefull for her... Let me know what you guys think! Thanks guys!

I think a protection of any kind is usefull especially on black becuase most of the nicks will show from little rocks. I know on mine they are very noticable and the car only has 7k miles.
Alright, although i'm sorry to hear about your paint chips, I'm glad it might be usefull cause i was having second thoughts watchin all those nice Si pics without it... I try to keep in mind that my girl wont wash it as often and wax it like most of the guys on H-T
take it from me, get it. you'll regret it BAD if you don't. I drive a nhbp sedan and at 20,000 miles it looks like the moon on my hood. white specs everywhere, not big rock chis but tiny noticable ones that would have been prevented had i gotten the clear bra. i also have a few chips about... 1/8th inch round it sucks i now have to get my hood repainted.
got 42k miles on my ride and i got to say that i highly regret not getting the clear bra. So "GET IT" haha good luck dude
I second everything that everyone in here has said. 13k miles and my hood looks gross. Totally regret not getting protection from day one.
Don't get a deflector though. Those things are hideous. Get a "clear bra" from 3M. They work great and are undetectable from a distance.

What about the black bras? I have a friend that has the Accord coupe and he has one. It doesn't look that bad.... it has two different pieces... He keeps telling me I should get one and that I'll regret it if I don't..... I have about 7K on my car and the hood and bumber look fine, but I keep the car very clean and I try not to get behind too many people... especially trucks.....
The only problem I foresee, is having to take it off all the the time to wash the car and I was wondering what it will do to the paint if left on for an extended period....

I use the factory Nose Mask (Bra) periodically for longer trips to keep my front end free of paint chips. It works great but you have to continually remove the mask and wash the car.... allowing the mask to dry completely before reinstalling it, otherwise when water gets trapped under the bra on the painted surface...it will leave some discolored spots (almost like a fading spot).
Not a bad investment....just not too good during the rainy winter months

u should get the clear plastic protection..i dont really like the black nose mask bra bcuzz those things require maint...everytime u wash the car u would have to take it off and put it back on after u dry the car...dirt, rocks, leaves etc.. will get under the bra and and scratch up the paint and sooner or later the color will most likely fade
